Los Angeles[note 1], officially City of Los Angeles (or LA), is the most populous city in the U.S. state of California and the second-most populous in the United States, after New York City. It was the target of a major Kaiju attack in 2017 and 2024.
When Los Angeles was attacked by the Category III Kaiju, Yamarashi, the nearby Shatterdome deployed the Mark-3 Jaeger, Gipsy Danger and one other Jaeger. Yamarshi emerged in Long Beach, California's waterfront and proceeded to destroy the RMS Queen Mary as it made its way into the city.
Gipsy Danger and its partner were deployed in the Los Angeles River in an attempt to prevent Yamarashi's entrance further into the city. When their partner's missile barrage is unable to stop the Kaiju, Gipsy Danger engaged Yamarashi and forced it back through Long Beach.
When they reached the Harbor Freeway, Gipsy Danger gains the advantage and uses a cargo crane to behead Yamarashi. Shortly after its death, its body was removed from the city and reconstruction for a new cargo terminal began.
