Hello, Reaper, I am from The Custom Pacific Rim Wikia , and I am inquiring if you might, by any chance be in interested in joining. For we are in need of people like you, with the everlasting passion for Pacific rim. :D
While I have no real business answering for Reaper, I feel it might be prudent to say direct advertising is not allowed on the wiki, even in message boards.
You CAN, however, formally request affiliation between the two wikis. This would allow easier contact and cross-promotion, effectively allowing the userbases of both wikis to be pooled, refreshing eachother, in the way of symbiosis.
Again, I do not have the authority to agree or disagree, but in my personal opinion, It might be a good business move for both wikis.
That being said, you may also want to request affiliation with other prior affiliates of this wiki, considering your currently small userbase on your wiki. You can find a list here.
Given the issue is none too uncommon here, as it seems, you might wanna take a look at adding some custom js addons, good examples of which you can find at dev.wikia.com. Two concrete examples would be:
LockOldBlogs - Which, as the name would suggest, disables commenting on blogs older than a set period of time (read up on how to adjust).
LockForums - Pretty much the same as above, but lock forums under the Thread: namespace, as in the new forums where we host WotW and other discussions.
By Chat Topic I mean the "Entering the Rift" line that pops up when you enter chat. I notice it isn't working properly and thougjt I might make myself useful and explain how to fix it, in the event that you don't already know and just haven't gotten around to it.
You probably know what system messages are, but if you don't you can access it via Special:AllMessages.
The specific page we're looking for is MediaWiki:Chat-welcome-message. For whatever reason, the text displays fine here, but not in chat. Usually you can fix this by closing the tag after the message. In this case, however it wouldn't work. From what I can tell, it's because it doesn't recognize the Font-face tag. Remove that tag and it might go back to working properly.
To the specific font you want, font-face doesn't work, so to fix this: append ( font-family: impact ) after the last semicolon in the div tag. Speaking of which I notice there's more than one. You may want to combine them in order to prevent further conflicts.
Hopefully it works, but if it doesn't I'll get back to you with more info.
I'm developing Russian Pacific Rim Wiki and I would like to send a request for interlanguage links between English and Russian PR Wikis if you don't mind. I think this collaboration between Wikis could be very useful, in terms of EN-RU translations and potentially something else.
I'll send a copy of this message to Lily Ford just in case :)
For some reason whenever anyone goes on chat, the big blue "entering the rift" text doesn't appear, and instead shows the code that is supposed to make the big blue text.
I apologise about the size of the printscreen but that is the best i can get without it overlapping the wikia screen
As much as I personally hate special snowflake treatment I think we're dealing with a kid here so some leeway might be acceptable. It's your decision, you're the admin, if I'm being an idiot and not helping then by all means ignore me, but as a concerned citizen I felt it was my job to offer what I consider useful advice.
I tried adding a Twitter Widget to the Wikia, but I'm pretty sure I messed up somewhere when copy/pasting the MediaWiki code onto the site. If you know anything about this, do you think you can give a once over and give it a couple whacks? MediaWiki: Twitter Widget is where it's been added, and you can check to see if it works at Template:Twitter Feed

Lily, don't the directions say that the
should be put on the wikia's main page? You currently have it on Template:Twitter Feed.
"Next, visit the page in which you want to display the Twitter feed (typically the Main Page of your wikia) and add following code: <verbatim>TwitterWidget</verbatim>
And voilà, the Twitter widget should now appear once the page is saved."
I've tried that on another Wikia where I implemented the Twitter Widget WikiMedia code, but the Twitter Feed doesn't show up, just the "Tweets @UserNameHere" link that goes directly to the account.
I'm thinking I probably FUBAR'ed somewhere with the MediaWiki code itself.
I would, but there's a problem with that URL. The Widget id is a link to the Scified.com Pacific Rim Twitter "PacificRimMovies". This is the official twitter by Legendary: https://twitter.com/PacificRim. It has a verified blue stamp on it.
