EARLIER TODAY, @PacificRim, the official twitter account of Pacific Rim reported that director Steven S. DeKnight would be present at Comic-Con 2017 to promote the one of Pacific Rim: Uprising toylines being produced by TamashiiNations in the morning at a specified booth.
I assumed that it was misdirection and they were planning to unveil a teaser trailer of some sort instead, but, turns out they weren't fibbing about the toy promotion:
This afternoon, the official teaser trailer for the film was unveiled and featured the voice of Ellen McLain at her least GLaDOS as she described what made a Jaeger the "pinnacle of mankind", with Jake Pentecost (John Boyega) urging the viewer to "Join the Jaeger Program".
“ | A new generation of Jaeger Pilots will stand tall for all humanity. What is a Jaeger? It’s you, times a thousand. Witness the next evolution of human invention, with the unveiling of the Pan Pacific Defense Corps Mark VI Jaeger Program, and visit GOJAEGER.COM to discover if you have what it takes to join the biggest heroes ever to walk the Earth.
One day, the monsters will return. #PacificRimUprising | ” |
gojaeger.com is the new official website for the viral marketing campaign for Pacific Rim. Not unlike the previous VMC, the website provides in-universe information regarding the upcoming film and even provides a link to a timeline that isn't dissimilar to the one the PacRim cobbled together using whatever information we could find about the film (conflicting, inconsistent, or otherwise noted).
Also present on the website are blueprints of not three, but five new Jaeger designs, including "Gipsy" Avenger Jaeger that is basically the official face of the film's promotional campaign.
Below is a action figure of Jaeger Titan Redeemer, uploaded by Glitchrr36, but I haven't found a source for this yet (Glitch, where'd you get this????). In Glitchrr's words, " It's called Titan redeemer, and the figure is on the same site as a bunch of legitimate looking designs. I'm not going to make a page until we have real concept art but this warrants a post I think."
Titan Redeemer is just one of five action figures being produced by Tamashii Nations for the upcoming Uprising film. The others are "Saber Athena", "Gipsy Avenger", "Bracer Phoenix", and "Guardian Bravo". Additionally, we're getting yet another Gipsy Danger action figure as well. Check 'em out below, they were on display at the convention where DeKnight was likely signing things and speaking to people.
All, in all, Pacific Rim: Uprising teased just enough to get the fandom buzzing again.
